Right to information in Colombia: An approach to the state of information from law and files

Abstract

The right to information (RI) has been prominent in different areas of knowledge. The studies make it possible to approach it from different perspectives, but its implementation has not had the desired impact on several sectors of the Colombian community. This article reports the status of implementation of RIs in Colombia, its relationship with archival science and law, and its influence on different sectors of society, specifically in national academic production. The methodology is approached from documentary research, seeking an understanding of the different elements that make the RI. For this purpose, and through an exploratory work, various sources were reviewed by Keywords that were related to 1) Research (Colombian research groups working on the issue), 2) circulation (Google search engine) and 3) socialization (local newspaper of national circulation). The review suggests that the RI-law-archiving articulation in Colombia has been weak and that the country does not have the scientific expertise required for the conceptual and technical development of RI as established by law.
