Environment, ecology and development in colombia

Abstract

Colombia has some environmental and ecological characteristics specific for the neotropic, whichmake it specific and unique. However, development models applied are against these characteristics.This article shows how governmental policies do not recognize characteristics which are inherent to sustainable human development, and therefore it creates serious urban and rural environmental problems. In comparison, there are some general outlines to create a development proposal based on Colombian ecological characteristics.
