Abstract
Due to some existing particularities in the city of Manizales, in terms of its geographical characteristics and the changes suggested in recent years, which affect the distribution of population in urban space, it is necessary to establish the existing relationship between geography and some economic variables that are crucial, in this case poverty indicators. This paper uses the 2005 National Census, conducted by the National Department of Statistics (DANE), to calculate the main indices of poverty and the demographic indices such as segregation and, thus, find the relationship between the two.
