Exploratory Study of the Intergenerational Differences Related to Values Towards Work in the Neighborhood of Las 3000 Viviendas, Sevilla

Abstract

The present paper analyzes the differences in values towards employment appearing in Las 3000 Viviendas, an unofficial and vulnerable neighborhood in the city of Seville, which in turn consists of parts of six neighborhoods belonging to the Polígono Sur: La Paz y Amistad, Antonio Machado, Martínez Montañés, Murillo, Las Letanías and La Oliva. The study explores and identifies differences in values and attitudes expressed as more valuable to develop and succeed in the world of work. The goal is to determine whether individuals, in their different generations, conform to the model of social change established by different researchers for a marginal context. Three hundred and seventy subjects from different age groups participated in the research: young, middle-aged and elderly men and women, who filled in a questionnaire to explore three aspects: the value of your own work, values to teach, and keys to succeed in life. Results show differences between the three generations and a change in the way work is conceived.
