Characterization of processes in horticultural enterprises in plain lands of Bogota

Abstract

In front of the signing of trade agreements and the imminent entrance of foreign products which compete with national production, it is necessary to carry out an evaluation of the enterprises in arder to determine if there are conditions to assure competitiveness. The agricultura! sector has been fragmented. There predominate small family exploitations without enough resources and much less management to get improvement, so therefore it is necessary to study the enterprises belonging to those sectors with competitive advantages in order to determine their conditions and to propase for a better management. This article analyses some enterprises that are part of one of the most sectors with the highest possibilities of inclusion in external markets as it is the case of vegetables in the plain lands of Bogota. It describes the main characteristics of management and support processes making clear its conditions and possible contribution to reach the objectives.
